13 Sins is a psychological thriller movie from 2014 directed by Daniel Stamm. The movie follows the story of Elliot Brindle (played by Mark Webber), a down-on-his-luck salesman who receives a mysterious phone call offering him a chance to win millions of dollars by participating in a hidden-camera game show. The game show consists of thirteen increasingly difficult challenges that he must complete in order to win the prize money. However, as the challenges become more twisted and disturbing, Elliot begins to question the real motives behind the game and the true nature of the people orchestrating it.

The movie begins with Elliot, a young family man struggling to make ends meet, losing his job and receiving an eviction notice for his apartment on the same day. Feeling desperate and hopeless, he receives a phone call out of the blue offering him a chance to play a game show that could change his life. The voice on the other end of the line gives him the first challenge – swat a fly that's in the room with him – and when he successfully completes it, he's rewarded with $1,000. Thinking it's an easy way to make some quick money, Elliot agrees to keep playing.

The challenges escalate quickly, and Elliot starts to realize that they're becoming more dangerous and disturbing with each one. From eating a dead rat to causing a woman's car to crash, Elliot is pushed to his mental and ethical limits. However, he continues to play the game, knowing that he needs the prize money to save himself and his family from financial ruin.

As the challenges become even more twisted, Elliot begins to suspect that something dark and sinister is driving the game. He discovers that there are other players competing in the game, all of whom have been struggling with similar hardships in their lives. He also meets a mysterious man named Miles (played by Ron Perlman) who seems to be in charge of the game, and who offers him cryptic advice and encouragement as he proceeds through the challenges.

As Elliot gets closer to completing the final challenge, he starts to lose himself in the darkness of the game. His family and friends become concerned for his safety and sanity. They urge him to quit the game and come back to reality, but Elliot is too far gone. He's convinced that winning the game is the only way to turn his life around.

Without giving away too much, the movie builds up to a shocking and unexpected twist ending that changes everything that we thought we knew about the game and its true purpose.

The performances in 13 Sins are top-notch, particularly Mark Webber's portrayal of Elliot. He does an excellent job of conveying the character's vulnerability, desperation, and moral complexity. Devon Graye is also great as Elliot's mentally disabled brother, who becomes increasingly disturbed by the events happening around him. Tom Bower delivers a memorable performance as Elliot's estranged father, who adds an additional layer of tension to the story.

The cinematography and direction of the movie are also excellent, with a mix of tense close-up shots and wide-angle perspectives that maintain the suspense throughout. The pacing of the movie is tight, with each challenge building on the one before it, leading to a climax that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats.

Overall, 13 Sins is a dark and twisted ride that will keep you guessing until the very end. It explores themes of morality, desperation, and the lengths that people will go to survive in a harsh and unforgiving world. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers with unexpected twists, this is definitely a movie that you should check out.
