When he finally lands a spot in Miami, Florida he meets Tej Parker a local ex-street racer who owns his own garage but makes cash on the side by organizing street races. Along with Jimmy who is a genius car tuner and Suki who is also a street racer, Brian has his Skyline modified to top of its class. Soon, he becomes well known for his driving skills and is given the credit he deserves - the respect.
After a winning race, Brian is caught by US Customs agents that were sent by Markham and is arrested. His former boss FBI Agent Bilkins finds out and makes a deal with him that if he agrees to take on a mission as an undercover street racer to take down Argentinian drug lord Carter Verone, that he will wipe his criminal record clean. Brian agrees only if he had the right to choose his partner. Upon request, and after a fight at the races, Brian convinces his childhood friend and ex-convict Roman Pearce to help him. With help from Carters love interest, and undercover agent, Monica Fuentes; the pair wins an audition to race where Verone selects them for the job: a money laundering run.
Once Brian and Roman have the cash they lead the police to a warehouse where his crew brought dozens of street racers to create a diversion. Suki and Tej trade cars with Brian and Roman so that the police follow them instead while the other pair sneak away to continue their undercover mission.
Verone figures it out that Monica is an undercover agent and orders her onto his yacht to get away but Brian and Roman literally crash their party after dealing with Verones henchmen. Monica takes down Verone at gun point and arrests him. The duffle bags of money are retrieved and take in as evidence. But not all of it. Along with their criminal records being wiped clean, Brian and Roman leave the scene with a little extra cash they didn't have before.
