A Deer of Nine Colors is an animated movie in the Chinese language. It was produced by Shanghai Animation Movie Studio. The original storyline is about the Buddhist Jataka story, which has the same name. This stories were found as cave paintings of the Mogao Caves that are located in Dunhuang, China. The cartoon’s plot is a spinoff of these stories

In prehistoric times, a Persian trader is lost in a storm. Then a deer that has nine colors appears to lead the man. Later in the movie, the same deer appears to rescue a man that is drowning in a river. The man then promises to not tell where the deer is located. When the man arrives at the palace, the king want to hunt the deer to make deer skin clothes. Will the king be successful?
