A Sound of Thunder, released in 2005 and directed by Peter Hyams, is a science-fiction thriller based on a novel by Ray Bradbury. The movie stars Edward Burns, Ben Kingsley, and Catherine McCormack. The plot of the movie revolves around a unique concept of time traveling. The year is 2055, and Time Safari, a company specializing in time travel, offers its clients an opportunity to travel back in time and hunt extinct animals. The catch, however, is that they can’t disrupt the natural course of events that occurred in the past, or it may have catastrophic consequences.

One of Time Safari's clients, Sonia Rand (McCormack), goes back in time to hunt a prehistoric Allosaurus. During her hunt, she steps on a butterfly, which sets off a chain of events with disastrous consequences on her return to the future. When Sonia arrives back in 2055, she finds the world entirely different from the one she had left. Her small act of stepping on a butterfly, known as "The Butterfly Effect," has caused a ripple effect that altered the entire course of evolution.

Sonia hires the help of Travis Ryer (Burns), a seasoned Time Safari guide, and his team, to fix the damage she had done. Joined by fellow scientist Dr. Sonia Rand (Kingsley), the team sets out to travel back in time to fix the problem after identifying the exact moment of Sonia's mistake.

However, the task proves to be more challenging than they had imagined. The group faces numerous encounters with the dangerous prehistoric animals and tough terrain they must navigate to locate the altered timeline. Additionally, as they travel back in time, they begin to notice the increasing damage to their time machine.

The team finally locates Sonia's deadly mistake, but things only worsen from there. The now unpredictable timeline has thrown everything they know into upheaval, and they must work fast before the effects of Sonia's actions become irreversible.

The tense and thrilling storyline of A Sound of Thunder is heightened by the breathtaking visuals and outstanding sound effects. The CGI creatures are realistic and terrifying, adding a level of excitement and fear to the movie. The movie also showcases the importance of the "butterfly effect" and the impact of even small acts on the world's future.

The performances in the movie are top-notch, with Burns delivering a captivating performance as the tough-as-nails guide leading the group. Kingsley delivers a brilliant portrayal of an aging billionaire CEO and scientist, while McCormack shines as the troubled and desperate client seeking to right her mistake.

Overall, A Sound of Thunder is a must-watch film for science-fiction and action-thriller enthusiasts. The unique concept of time travel and the "Butterfly Effect" makes it a thought-provoking and entertaining experience. The visuals and sound effects, coupled with the stellar cast, make for an enthralling movie that keeps the audience engaged from start to finish.

A Sound of Thunder is a 2005 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 41 minutes. It has received poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.2 and a MetaScore of 24.
