The film follows the Upward Bound program in 1960s inner city Chicago. Upward bound is a federally funded program that provides inner city youth with programs to help prepare them for graduation and college. This film chronicles the struggles of the students participating in this program, and also highlights the students will to learn and grow beyond their environment.
