Watch A Time for Burning

This documentary traces a radical social experiment that took place in the mid-1960s between the congregations of the all-white Augustana Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska, and the all-black Hope Lutheran Church nearby. To further community outreach, Augustana's pastor, the Reverend William Youngdahl proposes that 10 white families in his congregation make an effort to visit and get to know 10 Negro families living on the north side of town. His request shines a spotlight on racial prejudice and the growing concern over black families moving into white neighborhoods and its affect on property values.
