After the Game is a romantic comedy-drama released in 1997. The film begins with Max (Robert Dubac), a writer, and his wife Laura (Hudson Leick) attending a charity baseball game in Los Angeles. Max is an enthusiastic baseball fan, and Laura is not, but they both seem to be enjoying the game. After the game, Max sees his old friend Charlie (Stanley DeSantis) in the stands. Charlie is now a successful real estate developer, and Max is envious of his success. Max wonders what it would be like if he had made different choices in life.

The following day, Max and Laura go out for a walk. Max is still thinking about Charlie's success and starts to feel negative about his own achievements. Laura tells Max that he should be happy with what he has, but Max can't shake off his thoughts.

As Max is walking alone, he stumbles upon a strange booth occupied by a mysterious vendor (played by Richard Steinmetz). The vendor offers Max a strange device that will allow him to see what his life would have been like if he had made different choices.

Max is intrigued, and he decides to give it a try. He then sees alternate versions of his life: one where he becomes a famous writer, another where he never meets Laura, and one where he is an alcoholic. As Max travels through these different versions of his life, he learns valuable lessons about himself and what truly matters in life.

Throughout the film, Max struggles to come to terms with what he really wants out of life. He is a talented writer but has never achieved the success he craves. Laura loves him for who he is, but Max can't help but wonder if he could have done more with his life.

As Max explores these alternate versions of his life, he begins to see things in a new light. He realizes that even if he had become a famous writer or never met Laura, he would still have had his own struggles and disappointments.

In the end, Max learns that life is what you make of it. He decides to appreciate what he has and to strive for success in his own way. He also comes to realize the importance of the people in his life, especially Laura.

After the Game is a heartwarming comedy-drama that explores the universal theme of the road not taken. The film features strong performances from the main cast, especially Robert Dubac, who brings depth and emotional complexity to his performance as Max. The movie's clever premise and charming, humorous moments make it a worthwhile watch for anyone interested in exploring the what-ifs of life.
