Agra is a heart-wrenching drama released in 2020 starring Priyanka Bose, Rahul Roy, Ruhani Sharma, and Vibha Chhibber. The film revolves around the story of a family struggling to make ends meet in the city of Agra. Agra is known as the city of love, but for this family, it is a city where they are fighting every single day to keep their dreams alive, to make sure they can survive.

The film kicks off with the introduction of the protagonist (Priyanka Bose), a woman who is carrying the weight of her family's wellbeing on her shoulders. She is a single mother who works in a restaurant for a meager salary, which barely sustains her family. The restaurant owner, played by Rahul Roy, is also a father of a young girl who is a friend of Priyanka's daughter. He offers Priyanka a job at his restaurant as a cook, which she accepts with hesitation. However, she is unaware of the problems she is soon going to face.

Through this film, the director has beautifully showcased the struggle of the working-class people in India. Agra is a perfect representation of the plight of the working class in India, their hushed voices and their daily problems. Their anxiety and poverty are palpable, and something that many people can relate to.

The film depicts the dynamics of friendship and family relationships beautifully. The director subtly shows how the families are interconnected in Agra. Priyanka's daughter is shown to be very close to Roy's daughter, and they often play together. The bond between the two girls becomes even stronger after Priyanka starts working at the restaurant. However, things take a drastic turn when Priyanka realizes that her daughter is getting into trouble due to the restaurant owner's daughter.

As Priyanka's daughter is innocently getting trapped in a crime circle instigated by her friend, Priyanka begins to see the harsh realities of life in Agra. The established class divides, and social and economic barriers that restrict people living in the lower class begin to surface.

Ruhani Sharma plays a teenager who aspires to go to college. She portrays a character that many people in India can relate to - someone who dares to dream but is held back by circumstances beyond her control. She has a strikingly charming presence and adds warmth to the film. It gives the film a sense of hope that those who are rooted in their environment still have the chance to get out of it and make something of themselves.

Priyanka Bose delivers a phenomenal performance in the film. She is the center of the film, and her character's emotions are portrayed very subtly, yet they carry a powerful impact. She is vulnerable yet brave, frustrated yet persistent, and lovable yet heartbreaking. She dances between all these emotions effortlessly.

Overall, Agra is a film that depicts the life of the underprivileged in India in a poignant way. It is a film, not meant for the light-hearted, but the sensitivity in which the director portrays the characters makes this a must-watch movie. Agra is a story of a city, its people, and their struggles that keep them trapped but also prompt them to fight for a better life. The film has melancholic undertones, but the characters' resilience and determination make it an inspiring watch. The acting, script, and cinematography are exceptional, and collectively they form a gripping story that is both heartwarming and disillusioning at the same time.
