Airport '77 is a thrilling American disaster movie from 1977 directed by Jerry Jameson. It is the third installment in the popular Airport film series, following the success of the first two movies. The movie stars an impressive cast including Jack Lemmon, Lee Grant, Joseph Cotten, Olivia de Havilland, and James Stewart. The plot of the movie revolves around a luxurious private Boeing 747 airplane, named "Gulfstream", belonging to wealthy philanthropist Phillip Stevens (James Stewart). On board are notable passengers, including Stevens' daughter, his granddaughter, the plane's creator, art collector Martin Wallace (Christopher Lee), and the captain of the plane, Don Gallagher (Jack Lemmon).

As the movie begins, the plane's routine flight over the Bermuda Triangle turns into a nightmare when a group of criminals, led by Chambers (Robert Foxworth), hijack the plane, intending to steal a valuable art collection on board. But during the heist, the plane crashes into the ocean and begins to sink to the bottom of the sea.

With the plane underwater, the passengers and crew must use their skills to survive and find a way out. Don Gallagher, the hero pilot, works with the co-pilot, Bob Chambers (Robert Hooks), and the lead flight attendant, Karen Wallace (Lee Grant), to save the remaining passengers and find a way to escape the sunken airplane. Meanwhile, the Stevens' family tries to stay calm and protect the young girl, Jennifer (Heidi Bohay), as water seeps into the cockpit.

As the situation becomes more desperate, the passengers must work together to find a way out of the sinking airplane. They must contend with limited oxygen supplies, malfunctioning equipment, and the danger of being trapped in the wreckage. The authorities, led by the Coast Guard captain (Joseph Cotten), are working tirelessly to find the missing flight, but will they be able to discover their exact location in time to save them all?

Airport '77 is a tense and action-packed movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The special effects used to create the sinking airplane are particularly impressive, but it is the cast that truly makes the movie memorable. Jack Lemmon gives a nuanced and powerful performance as the heroic pilot, while Lee Grant provides a strong and compelling female lead. The supporting cast, including Christopher Lee, Olivia de Havilland, and James Stewart, all lend their considerable talents to the movie as well.

Overall, Airport '77 is a thrilling and fast-paced action movie that delivers on all fronts. It is a great example of the disaster movie genre that was popular in the 1970s and is sure to leave you breathless until the very end.

Airport '77 is a 1977 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 53 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.8 and a MetaScore of 36.
