Alien Trespass, released in 2009, is a science fiction comedy film directed by R.W. Goodwin. The movie is set in the 1950s and is a homage to the classic B movies of that era. It stars Eric McCormack as Ted Lewis, a astronomer who gets possessed by an alien named Urp who comes to Earth to stop an evil alien named Ghota who has landed on Earth with the intention of destroying the planet.

The movie starts with an introductory narration of the events that took place on the night of August 2, 1957, when a space object fell from the sky and crash-landed in a desert town called Mojave. Soon, the town is attacked by an alien named Ghota, who is on a mission to destroy Earth. As the people of Mojave look for ways to defend themselves from the alien, they are not aware that another alien named Urp has also arrived. However, unlike Ghota, Urp is here to save the planet from getting destroyed.

Following the invasion, Ted Lewis, an astronomer sees a meteor fall in the desert and decides to check it out. However, he gets possessed by Urp, who makes him his host on Earth. Meanwhile, the town's police chief, Vern played by Robert Patrick, is on the hunt for the alien invader, Ghota, and comes across Ted, who is acting strange. He assumes that Ted is the alien and arrests him.

As the story unfolds, Ted's wife, Lana played by Jenni Baird, and Vern discover that Ted is not the alien invader, but is actually an alien who is here to save the Earth. With Ted’s help, they try to stop Ghota and save their town from destruction. Along the way, they encounter various challenges, including the evil alien's minions and the struggle to find a way to destroy Ghota.

The comedy aspect of the movie is evident in the way the script and the characters are portrayed. The film has a fun and comedic tone throughout, with nods to the classic B-movies of the 1950s, including a reference to the legendary Ed Wood. The filmmakers have taken great care to ensure that the film feels authentic to the era it is set in, from the costumes to the soundtrack. The special effects are also quite impressive considering the budget constraints.

The cast of Alien Trespass is excellent in their roles, with Eric McCormack giving a standout performance as both Ted and Urp. He managed to successfully balance the comedic and dramatic elements of the movie. Jenni Baird is also impressive as Lana, Ted's wife, and provides the much-needed love story element to the movie. Robert Patrick is excellent as the gruff police chief Vern, and his tough exterior and sarcastic wit add some great moments of humor throughout the film.

In conclusion, Alien Trespass is an enjoyable and funny sci-fi movie that provides a great nod to the classic B movies of the 1950s. It's a fun and quirky film that will be enjoyed by fans of the genre and those who appreciate a good comedy. While it may not be a perfect movie, it is certainly entertaining from beginning to end. As far as sci-fi comedies go, it's definitely worth a watch.
