Alvin Purple Rides Again is a 1974 Australian sex comedy film, directed by David Bilcock and Robin Copping. It is a sequel to the 1973 film Alvin Purple and follows the exploits of the eponymous Alvin Purple, played by Graeme Blundell. The film begins with Alvin Purple living a peaceful life as a waterbed salesman in Alice Springs. However, his peaceful existence is soon interrupted when he receives a telephone call from his old friend, Shake (played by Alan Finney). Shake informs Alvin that he has become a successful carnival owner while Alvin was away in Alice Springs. Shake invites Alvin to join the carnival on the road, and Alvin decides to embark on a new adventure.

As Alvin joins the carnival, he finds himself in a variety of humorous and outrageous situations. He is pursued by his former girlfriend, actress Abigail (played by Abigail), who invites him to join her in a new stage production. He also becomes involved with a beautiful singer named Tina (played by Kris McQuade). Tina's skills at seduction lead Alvin to a series of sexual misadventures, including an encounter with a group of nuns.

Alvin also encounters a group of bikers led by the tough and intimidating Bongo (played by Gus Mercurio). The bikers threaten Alvin and demand that he leave the carnival. Alvin stands up to Bongo and his gang, leading to a climactic showdown.

Throughout the course of the film, Alvin is pursued by a mysterious figure known only as The Kangaroo. The Kangaroo is a relentless pursuer, with a grudge against Alvin that goes back many years. Alvin is determined to evade The Kangaroo's pursuit, which leads to the film's thrilling and unexpected conclusion.

Alvin Purple Rides Again is a light-hearted and amusing film, with a number of memorable comic set-pieces. Graeme Blundell is excellent as the hapless and accident-prone Alvin, who never seems to be able to stay out of trouble. The film also features strong performances from Alan Finney as Shake and Kris McQuade as Tina. The supporting cast is equally strong, with a number of colorful characters adding to the film's overall charm.

The film's production values are impressive, with director David Bilcock and Robin Copping working together to create a visually stunning film. The outdoor locations, including the Australian outback and the carnival surroundings, are used to great effect, giving the film an authentic and lively feel.

Overall, Alvin Purple Rides Again is a solid and enjoyable sequel to the original Alvin Purple. It retains the irreverent humor and sex comedy elements of the first film, while also adding new characters and situations to keep the story fresh. Fans of the original film and Australian cinema in general will find much to enjoy in this entertaining and well-crafted movie.
