The true crime documentary Angel Maker: Serial Killer Queen talks about the comparatively unknown serial killer Amelia Dyer. The documentary uses photos, unrelated film clips and most prominently, heavy narration to tell Dyer’s gruesome tale. Desperate parents paid Dyer to take their unwanted newborns away and promise to give them a better life. At first she was only letting them starve to death, but progressed to strangling them outright. As described in the film, often with the help of reenactments, though she was only convicted of one such crime it’s estimated that she murdered over 400 babies before her execution in 1896.
