Angoor is a 1982 Hindi-language comedy film directed by Gulzar, and starring Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Verma in dual roles. It is based on Shakespeare's play, The Comedy of Errors, and follows the story of two pairs of identical twins who are separated at birth and reunite years later, leading to a series of hilarious misunderstandings and mistaken identities.

The film opens with the story of two sets of identical twins, separated at birth due to a shipwreck. One set, Ashok and Bahadur, is brought up by a wealthy man while the other set, Bahadur and Ashok, is raised by a poor woman. Many years later, the wealthy man's sons, Ashok and Bahadur, who are now successful businessmen, set out to find their long-lost brothers. Their search leads them to a small town where they discover that their identical twins, Bahadur and Ashok, are also living in the same town and are mistaken for them.

The story then takes a comedic turn as the pairs of identical twins start interacting with each other and with the people around them, leading to a series of hilarious misunderstandings and mistaken identities. The film's multiple plot lines and intricate characters keep the audience engaged till the very end.

Sanjeev Kumar, who plays both Ashok and Bahadur, delivers a standout performance. He effortlessly switches between roles, adding depth to each character and making them distinct from each other. Deven Verma, who plays the other twin pair, also excels in his role, bringing in his unique brand of humor to the film.

Moushumi Chatterjee, who plays the female lead, also deserves commendation for her performance. She portrays the role of Ashok's wife, but constantly mistakes Bahadur for her husband, leading to hilarious situations.

The film's director, Gulzar, is known for his excellent storytelling and use of symbolism, and he doesn't disappoint with Angoor. He infuses the film with witty dialogues, playful music, and brilliant cinematography that add to the humor and charm of the film.

One of the film's most iconic scenes involves a chaotic dinner sequence where the two pairs of twins and their wives interact, leading to a total breakdown in communication and some of the most memorable moments of the film.

Angoor is a timeless classic that has stood the test of time and continues to be loved by audiences even after almost four decades. The film's humor, memorable characters, and witty script still resonate with viewers today, making it a must-watch for anyone who loves a good laugh.
