Mary Santiago the Cinderella character in these movies wants to attend her dream school, and to get her legal guardian to agree to this she has to do everything the she asks. Her legal guardian Dominique forces her into servitude for the duration of the time she is home. On the condition that if she gets accepted she will be able to leave her home and attend the school that she wishes to go.
Dominique is the evil step mother charter in this movie, and is an aged pop star. Mary is left in her care after her stage dancer mother left her. Dominique is not a motherly character in the movie she is cruel, obnoxious, and ungrateful. Her daughter Britt and Bree are the same and are casted as the ugly step sisters. Mary is treated like a slave by the three female characters in the movies.
Mary's life is made better by her best friend Tami who can be considered the fairy god mother, she is supportive and like her friend an outsider. The girls confide in one another all their troubles and dreams throughout the movies they Tami especially encourages Mary to go for what she wants.
The high school that marry, her friend, and the stepsisters go to , is all gossiping because of former student and now pop star Joey Parker the prince charter (in the movie) . Joey returns to high school to finish off his senior year as a normal student, which doesn't happen because he is a pop star. It is also made public that Joey will be holding a dance contest for a spot in his new music video.
Mary and Joey's first romantic meeting happens at a masked school dance where she surprises everyone with her amazing dancing and disappears. Joey then sets out to find this masked girl by using her music player that was left. Britt and Bree find out that Mary has been secretly taking dancing lessons and put two and two together. They realize that marry is a real competition and they try to win Joey's attention- and his heart. At the end of the movies Britt and Bree attempt fails, and Mary ends up wining Joey's heart. She also getting to go to the school of her dreams and is free from her forced family. This movie has a lot of humorous parts to it and is very light to watch.
