Arthur 2: On the Rocks is a sequel to the classic comedy film, Arthur, which follows the story of Arthur Bach, a wealthy drunkard who inherited a fortune from his family. The film was released in 1988 and starring Dudley Moore, Liza Minnelli, and John Gielgud, who reprise their roles from the original movie. The movie picks up where the first film left off. Arthur Bach is still living the high life, spending his fortune recklessly and drinking heavily. However, his life takes a turn for the worse when his family fortune is lost due to the collapse of the stock market. Arthur's wife, Linda, convinces him to start a new life with her, but he is reluctant to give up his extravagant lifestyle.

As Arthur and Linda struggle to make ends meet, their friends and family desert them one by one. Even Hobson, Arthur's loyal butler, decides to leave his employ and move to a retirement home. In a desperate attempt to win back his fortune, Arthur comes up with a plan to use Linda's real estate expertise to buy and sell properties for a profit. However, their plan fails miserably, and they end up in debt and facing eviction from their apartment.

Just when it seems that things could not get any worse, Arthur is contacted by his former fiancée, Susan, who offers to get him a job at her father's company. Despite Linda's objections, Arthur jumps at the chance to work for Susan's father, Burt Johnson. However, he soon discovers that the job comes with a catch: Burt wants him to steal an important document from a competitor's office.

Not wanting to disappoint his new employer, Arthur agrees to the plan, but everything goes wrong when he is caught in the act by the police. He is arrested and sentenced to prison, leaving Linda alone and desperate.

As Arthur languishes in jail, Linda reaches out to his old wealthy acquaintances, hoping to find a way to get him out of prison. She eventually convinces them to lend her the money for Arthur's bail, and he is released from prison. However, their financial troubles are far from over. They still owe a substantial sum of money to Burt Johnson and are being chased by debt collectors.

The movie reaches its climax when Arthur devises a plan to save himself and Linda from their financial ruin. Using his insider knowledge of Burt Johnson's illegal activities, he blackmails him into paying off their debts and restoring their fortunes. In the end, Arthur and Linda are back on top and ready to start life anew.

Arthur 2: On the Rocks is a delightful comedy that captures the spirit of the original film. Dudley Moore delivers an endearing and heartwarming performance as Arthur, while Liza Minnelli shines as his devoted wife, Linda. John Gielgud adds his own touch of class to the movie, reprising his role as Hobson.

The film's storyline is engaging and entertaining, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end. While the movie lacks the charm and wit of the original, it is still a solid comedy with plenty of laughs.

If you loved the first Arthur movie or are a fan of 80s comedies, then Arthur 2: On the Rocks is definitely worth watching. It may not be the classic that the original was, but it is still a fun and enjoyable film that will leave you feeling good.

Arthur 2: On the Rocks is a 1988 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 53 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.6.
