Artists and Models is a romantic comedy film released in 1937 starring Jack Benny, Ida Lupino, and Richard Arlen. The movie was directed by Raoul Walsh and produced by Lewis E. Gensler. The film follows the story of a struggling cartoonist who's trying to make a living, but nothing he draws seems to sell. His roommate is a woman who's always daydreaming and has a vivid imagination. One day, she comes up with an idea for a comic strip that she thinks will be a hit, and the cartoonist agrees to try it out.

The film opens with Jack Benny playing Mac Brewster, a struggling artist living in a New York apartment with his fiancée, Martha (played by Gail Patrick) and his roommate, Tony (played by Ida Lupino). Despite Mac's artistic talent, he can't seem to make ends meet, constantly pitching ideas to the editor of a comic book company, Mr. Whiffle (played by Franklin Pangborn), but to no avail. Meanwhile, Tony is becoming increasingly obsessed with the comic strip 'The Bat Lady,' which is featured in a rival magazine. As she becomes more and more obsessed, she starts to see the Bat Lady character everywhere she goes.

After an argument with Martha, Mac walks the streets of New York, looking for inspiration. He picks up a discarded comic book and reads it, finding it to be more interesting than his own work. The next day, he shows up at Mr. Whiffle's office with a new comic strip, 'The Bat Woman,' inspired by Tony's obsession. Mr. Whiffle loves the idea and soon, the strip is a hit.

Meanwhile, Mac meets a young woman named Abigail (played by Bernice Claire), who is the daughter of a wealthy publisher, and they fall in love. The only problem is that her father doesn't approve of her relationship with an artist, so Mac pretends to be a wealthy art collector to win his approval. As Mac tries to keep up the pretense, the situation becomes increasingly complicated when Abigail's ex-boyfriend, Jim (played by Richard Arlen) shows up.

Artists and Models features several catchy musical numbers, including 'Public Melody Number One' and 'The Boulevard of Broken Dreams.' It's also full of hilarious situations and witty dialogue. The chemistry between the cast members is excellent, with Jack Benny showing his comedic skills as the struggling artist, and Ida Lupino providing great support as his whimsical roommate. Richard Arlen also gives a standout performance as Jim, the rival for Abigail's affections.

Overall, Artists and Models is a comedy that will leave you feeling happy and entertained. It's a must-see for fans of romantic comedies and classic movies.

Artists and Models is a 1955 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 42 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.0.
