Assembly is a true story that takes place during the Chinese Civil War. The captain in the People's Liberation Army, Gu Zidi bravely takes his troops into battle. They will face the powerful National Revolutionary Army in a showdown. Gu and his 46 men set off on their assignment- to defend until the last man. Accompanying them is, Wang Jincun a teacher known for being a pacifist and just released from prison for showing cowardice on the battlefield. The men set out towards an old mine on the bank of the Wen River and are told not to retreat until they hear the bugle call for assembly. The NRA attacks them with force, and Gu will find himself in a very tough battle having to make some very tough decisions.
