As an elderly, retired actor, Fanda's mind is over flowing with creative engergies. It is with engergies to spare that he begins playing harmless pranks on people around him. He does not mean any harm with his pranks, just looking for a way to amuse himself. Fanda's wife, however, does not share his amusements with the pranks. It makes her very angry when he spends money as she pinches and saves for their impending burials. When Autumn Springs opens, Fanda and his best friend Eda convince a real estate agent that he is a famous retired actor on Broadway. When the agent demands payment for the time he lost, Fanda has no choice but to take some of Emilie's funeral fund. The punishment that she enacts upon Fanda chances his whole outlook on life.
