Babe: Pig in the City is a 1998 family comedy-drama film directed by George Miller, which follows the adventures of Babe, a talking pig, and his owner, farmer Arthur Hoggett. The film is a sequel to the 1995 critically acclaimed film, Babe. In this film, after winning the sheepdog herding contest, Babe and Arthur are invited to attend a fair in the city to celebrate their success. However, things take a turn for the worse when Farmer Hoggett is injured in an accident and Babe is left alone in the city, without anyone to take care of him.

Babe is eventually taken in by a hotel housekeeping staff who allow him to stay in the hotel with them. It is in this new environment that Babe discovers the bustling and risky world of the city, and he realizes that he must use his skills to survive.

The pig soon befriends a group of animals at a temporary animal shelter, where he learns of their plight and their collective efforts to survive in a city that is not very welcoming to animals. The animals at the shelter include cats, dogs, monkeys and other species, and they all work together to help Babe find a way back to his farm, and also to save the shelter from being shut down.

Magda Szubanski, who was also in the first movie, plays the role of Mrs. Esme Cordelia Hoggett, the farmer's wife who tries to save Babe from being taken away to slaughter. The eccentric Mrs. Hoggett is not afraid to speak her mind and protects Babe at all costs, even when it means going against the rules.

Elizabeth Daily returns as the voice of Babe, and Mickey Rooney plays the role of the hotel manager, whose heart is warmed by the unlikely friendship between Babe and the other animals.

The film is filled with a number of action-packed and heartwarming moments, as Babe and his new friends work together to overcome the challenges of life in the city. The movie's themes of friendship, compassion and teamwork make it an uplifting and engaging watch for audiences of all ages.

While the film generally received positive reviews, some critics felt that it was not as good as its predecessor. Despite this, Babe: Pig in the City was still a commercial success, grossing nearly $70 million worldwide. Over the years, the movie has become a beloved classic for families and pet-lovers around the world.

Overall, Babe: Pig in the City is an entertaining and heartwarming film that audiences are sure to enjoy. Its lovable characters, exciting story, and underlying message of kindness and empathy make it a must-watch for anyone who loves animals, and a fantastic addition to the Babe franchise.

Babe: Pig in the City is a 1998 adventure movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 37 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.8 and a MetaScore of 68.
