Babylon A.D., based off the book Babylon Babies, is a French science fiction movie starring Vin Diesel as elite mercenary Toorop as he takes on a bizarre job while the world burns all around him. We open in Russia, whose cities have been turned into overcrowded slums by acts of terrorism and aggression. A mob lord named Gorsky (Gerard Depardieu) hires mercenary Toolop to transport a woman from Russia to New York. Toolop accepts the job along with a unique sub dermal passport and a variety of weaponry. Toolop then escorts a young girl named Aurora (Melanie Thierry) half way around the world.
As they move, strange things begin to happen. Criminals and desperate men on one side of the equation, and guns for hire claiming to be sent by Aurora's dead father on the other hand all try to stop Toolop from completing his job. Aurora also begins to act strangely, displaying knowledge she couldn't possibly have ranging from insight to the future to operating machinery without any training as if she'd been born to it.
During this mad race we find out about a group called the Noelites, an international religion that's picking up followers and momentum in a world on the edge of collapse. Toolop also learns that the leader of the group is interested only in power, and has been engineering miracles to try and sway more followers to the false faith. Aurora, pregnant with twins despite being a virgin, is one such engineered miracle.
Once in America Toolop is confronted by Gorsky and goons, told to hand over Aurora. He does, then changes his mind and gets involved in a firefight. Aurora shoots Toolop, as the passport in his skin is a tracking device, and tells him to go home. Toolop wakes up in a med lab, one arm and leg replaced. He returns to a cabin in the woods to find Aurora, who gives birth, leaving Toolop her children.
