Bad Boys is an action-packed film starring Martin Lawrence (Marcus Burnett) and Will Smith (Mike Lowrey) as narcotic detectives in the Miami-Dade police department. Burnette and Lowrey have just made the biggest drug bust of their career, a 100 million dollars' worth of heroin. The heroin comes up missing from the police vault. Internal affairs investigates and thinks that it is an inside job. Internal Affairs warns Narcotics division that if the heroin is not found within five days, the division will be disbanded and closed permanently.
Lowrey and Burnette are in a race against time to find the missing drugs. Lowrey, a ladies man, seeks help from his former girlfriend and informant Maxine Logan. Maxine and her friend Julie (Tea Leoni) get themselves hired as escorts to infiltrate the seamy drug cartel. Maxine soon comes under suspicion by the drug kingpin and is killed, but Julie manages to escape.
In a race against time, Burnett and Lowrey track a master thief into the Miami underworld, dodging bullets and fighting bad guys along the way. Julie calls the station and begs to speak to Lowrey. Lowrey is nowhere to be found, so Burnette must impersonate him. Burnette now has to be Lowrey for the duration of the case; if he doesn't, he will lose her trust.
Burnette has to stick close to their only eye witness, while Lowrey goes home to Marcus's wife and children. The charade must go on until the case is over. Burnette doesn't trust his partner around his wife but tries to make the best of it. The real Lowery is attracted to Julie but must keep up the charade.
Spectacular car chases, crashes and bullets fly throughout the movie. The action never stops. Lowrey and Burnette argue like an old married couple but in the end they always have each others back.
