Bait is a thrilling action-comedy movie that was released in 2000. The movie stars Jamie Foxx in the lead role as Alvin Sanders, a petty criminal who is the subject of a nationwide manhunt. Alongside Jamie Foxx, Bait also features David Morse, Robert Pastorelli, and Doug Hutchison, among others. The film was directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by Andrew Scheinman and Adam Scheinman.

The story revolves around Alvin Sanders, a small-time crook who is serving time in prison. Alvin devises a plan to escape from prison and flee the country with his girlfriend. However, things take an unexpected turn when his cellmate dies of a heart attack just as Alvin is about to escape. In a desperate bid to escape, Alvin swaps identities with the dead cellmate, who was due to be released from prison the following day.

After assuming the identity of his dead cellmate, Alvin makes his way to the airport, where he is suddenly apprehended by the police. It turns out that his cellmate was actually an undercover FBI agent who was working on a case involving a major criminal syndicate. The FBI believes that Alvin has crucial information about the syndicate's operations and decides to use him as bait to lure the criminals out of hiding.

The FBI sets up a sting operation in which Alvin is fitted with a wire and sent out into the streets of New York City, where he must try and make contact with the criminals. The plan quickly goes awry when Alvin's girlfriend gets involved and the criminals become wise to the FBI's tactics. With the help of an FBI agent named Edgar Clenteen, played by David Morse, and local police sergeant, played by Robert Pastorelli, Alvin must navigate a dangerous web of deception and betrayal as he tries to uncover the truth behind the syndicate's operations.

The movie is a fast-paced and action-packed thriller that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats throughout. Jamie Foxx is excellent in the lead role, bringing both charm and wit to his character, who is equal parts cunning and likable. David Morse is also great as the tough and no-nonsense FBI agent Edgar Clenteen, who is determined to bring the syndicate to justice.

One of the highlights of the movie is its dynamic chase scenes, which take place on foot, by car, and even on jet skis. The chase scenes are expertly choreographed and add to the overall sense of tension and excitement in the film.

Bait also features a strong supporting cast, including Robert Pastorelli as the bumbling but well-meaning police sergeant and Doug Hutchison as one of the key members of the criminal syndicate. The interactions between the various characters are often humorous and provide a welcome respite from the intense action sequences.

Overall, Bait is an entertaining and engaging movie that will appeal to fans of action and comedy alike. With its talented cast, dynamic chase scenes, and fast-paced plot, it is a must-see for anyone who enjoys a good action movie.

Bait is a 2000 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 59 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.7 and a MetaScore of 39.
