Balto 3: Wings of Change is the third in a series centered around the life of an Alaskan wolf dog and his family. This installment features Balto's adventurous son, Kodi, a young dog passionate about his job with the US Mail. There's trouble in paradise when his exciting life is turned upside-down with the arrival of a plane that seems like a more efficient method of delivering mail.
A race is organized in order to determine whether the mail is better off with a plane or a team of sled dogs. Kodi, desperate to keep his job, convinces his father to lead the sled dog team once again. Much to Kodi's dismay, it seems the plane has the advantage at first, but when it's lost in the mountains and never appears at the finish line, the dogs realize something has gone terribly wrong.
Faced with the dilemma of whether or not to help someone despite the massive risk to his job and even his life, Kodi must decide where his priorities lie. Choosing to embark on a dangerous adventure to save his rival could mean his job will be lost when the pilot recovers. On the other hand, leaving the pilot to the mercy of the mountain will ensure the security of his job. To make matters worse, Kodi sometimes feels as if he lives in the shadow of his famous father, and everyone expects him to follow in his father's footprints as a hero. Torn between doing what's right and doing what's easy, Kodi is faced with a moral dilemma that only worsens when he learns of his father's friendship with the lost pilot.
Despite his parents' disapproval of his unwillingness to help, Kodi must decide for himself if his job is worth so much to him that he'd be willing to do something terrible to keep it.
