"Barefoot Gen" is an animated film from the year of 1983. The film focuses on the titular Gen, a child survivor of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima, Japan. The film begins on August 4th in the year 1945 and continues into some point of time shortly after August 16th. Despite being a child, Gen receives an unflinching glimpse into the hardships of war and Japan's recovery process from the first American nuclear bombing.
