Benji is a film about a stray dog that finds his way into the hearts of people in a Texas town. Benji is a scrappy mixed mutt and no one knows where he has come from. Everyone in the town calls him by a different name. Anytime Benji shows up to a person's house, they give him a lot of food. He is basically the town pet. Benji has a routine and a method that he follows while he makes his way around time. For example, he stops at the town café every day at the same time for a bone. The owner gives Benji a bone because he knows when he sees him that it is time to get ready for the lunch rush. Benji gets into trouble sometimes too. He spends a lot of time chasing an old woman's cat against her wishes. One day, Benji meets another dog. She is a beautiful, white fluffy dog named Tiffany. The two dogs begin to grow close and become friends. Benji is friends with a lot of the children and one day two of them are kidnapped. Benji decides that he needs to rescue them. He does his best to get other people to help him out but it takes some time for people to figure out what Benji wants. The parents of the kidnapped children never wanted them to play with Benji because they were always worried that he carried fleas and would get them sick. The children always ignored their parents and now only Benji knows how to rescue them. If Benji is able to save the children, their parents will probably adopt them and give him a permanent home. The kidnappers end up hiding the children where Benji sleeps every night but Benji struggles to communicate with the adult humans and lead them to the children.
