Bewitched is a 2005 romantic-comedy film directed by Nora Ephron and starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell. The movie is based on the 1960s TV series of the same name. The film also features Shirley MacLaine, Kristin Chenoweth, and Michael Caine in supporting roles. The story of the movie follows Jack Wyatt (Will Ferrell), a self-centered actor who has seen a decline in his career. He is cast as Darrin in a modern remake of the classic TV show Bewitched. Jack channels all his energies into finding the perfect actress to play Samantha, the magical witch protagonist of the show. Enter Isabel Bigelow (Nicole Kidman), an unknown actress who has just arrived in town. Jack is immediately drawn towards her and offers her the role of his leading lady.

However, Jack is unaware that Isabel is an actual witch, and not just an excellent actress. Isabel is trying to live a normal life without using her powers, which is challenging in the glamorous industry of Hollywood. Together, Jack and Isabel start filming the TV show, and Jack begins to fall for her, while Isabel starts to use her powers subtly to help him get the role of his dreams.

As the filming progresses, Jack becomes increasingly self-absorbed and ignores Isabel's talents, leading to frustration and bitterness from her. To make matters worse, Jack's ex-girlfriend, Nina (played by Kristin Chenoweth), starts making appearances on the set, making things complicated for Jack and Isabel. Furthermore, Isabel's father, Nigel (played by Michael Caine), starts meddling in her life, disapproving of her decision to live a life without using powers.

The movie brilliantly plays with the concept of fantasy and reality, showing the contrast between Isabel, who is a witch, and the fantasy character of Samantha she is portraying. There are elements of magical realism throughout the movie, like when Isabel makes a plate move with her powers, and the characters surrounding her don't react.

The chemistry between Kidman and Ferrell is a highlight of the film, providing excellent comic timing and delivering some great lines. Kidman is brilliant as the enchanting Isabel, making the character feel like a real person one can relate to. Ferrell portrays the perfect self-centered, insecure actor, who is trying to make a comeback, and made the character likable, despite his flaws.

Shirley MacLaine plays Iris, Isabel's eccentric aunt, who is also a witch. Iris is a key character in the movie, giving advice to Isabel and acting as a sounding board for her life choices. MacLaine brings a touch of class and elegance to the role, anchoring the fantasy elements and making them feel believable.

The film also has a great supporting cast, with Michael Caine's character of Isabel's overprotective father bringing interesting tension and comedy to the story. Kristin Chenoweth is also excellent in the role of the vengeful and desperate ex-girlfriend Nina, adding depth to the story.

Overall, Bewitched is a charming and entertaining movie, perfect for a rainy day with a bowl of popcorn. It's a must-watch for fans of the 1960s TV series and a great introduction for viewers who are new to the world of witchcraft and magic. The movie's beautiful cinematography, fantastic performances, witty humor, and heartwarming moments make it a captivating experience. Nora Ephron did an excellent job directing the film, making it feel like a tribute to the original series while also adding her own distinct style.

Bewitched is a 2005 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 41 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.8 and a MetaScore of 34.
