The idea of going to incredible lengths to impress a girl is nothing new, and in 1965, Reed Sherman stole the show in another form of affection grabbing insanity. Considered by many to actually be a horror, it follows the life of one man that happens upon a backwards young girl living in the Florida Everglades. Once he starts to have feelings for her he has to guard himself from not only another man looking to steal her heart, but all the many dangers of the Florida swamplands and a crazed voodoo witch doctor with questionable plans and ideas.

The movie, which was originally to be called Paradise Road and was filmed in 1965, but not released. It came out later in 1969 under the changed name, Big Daddy, and made the back woods and swamp lands just a little bit creepier for viewers.

Big Daddy was written, directed, and produced by Carl K. Hittleman, with very little cast crew and not a huge budget, but still did fairly well. However, not a lot about this early version of the title is known. It seems to have fallen between the cracks of society's best, but is still worth a watch, especially since it stars larger than life actor Victor Buono, who is well noted for his roles as a villain in many different movies.

He takes the role of A. Lincoln Beauregard, who is also in the running for the young illiterate woman's affections, and as usual, he portrays a mysterious and strange character. Though he isn't considered the main character of the movie Big Daddy, he is the most notable person and most remembered. Of all the roles in the movie, his is the only one that now holds any merit what so ever amongst the entire cast and crew.
