Bright Young Things is a 2003 movie directed and written by Stephen Fry, based on the novel Vile Bodies by Evelyn Waugh. The film is set in the 1930s and follows the lives of a group of young socialites in London, who are having the time of their lives. They are a part of the 'Bright Young Things,' a term used to describe the young and fashionable aristocrats who were known for their hedonistic and decadent lifestyle.

The movie begins with the protagonist, Adam Fenwick-Symes (Stephen Campbell Moore), who is a young writer and is desperately trying to finish his novel, but he is constantly distracted by the parties and events that are taking place around him. He is engaged to Nina Blount (Emily Mortimer), a woman from a wealthy family, who is also a part of the Bright Young Things.

The movie follows their relationship, as well as the lives of the other characters. There is Agatha Runcible (Fenella Woolgar), a novelist who is hoping to make it big in the literary world; Ginger Littlejohn (Jim Broadbent), a failed businessman who is constantly trying to make a quick buck; and Simon Balcairn (David Tennant), a flamboyant and eccentric artist who is struggling to find his place in the world.

The characters are all trying to find their place in the world, while also enjoying the glamorous lifestyle that comes with being a part of the Bright Young Things. They attend lavish parties, drink champagne, wear the latest fashions, and have casual relationships with each other.

However, as the movie progresses, the carefree lifestyle of the Bright Young Things begins to take a toll on the characters. They begin to face real-world problems, such as financial difficulties, romantic complications, and the threat of war. Adam, in particular, becomes disillusioned with the world he is living in and begins to question whether his dreams of becoming a famous writer are worth the sacrifices he is making.

The movie is filled with humor, as well as moments of sadness and heartbreak. The characters are all flawed, and their struggles are relatable. The movie is also visually stunning, with beautiful costumes and set designs that transport the audience back to the 1930s.

The performances are all excellent, with Stephen Campbell Moore and Emily Mortimer both giving nuanced and affecting performances as the central couple. Dan Aykroyd also gives a memorable performance as the eccentric and larger-than-life character, Lord Monomark.

Overall, Bright Young Things is a charming and entertaining movie that offers a glimpse into the privileged and glamorous world of the Bright Young Things, while also exploring deeper themes of love, loss, and the struggle to find one's place in the world.

Bright Young Things is a 2003 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 46 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.5 and a MetaScore of 64.
