The film is a remake of the Tamil film Nattamai and tells a story of a small village in Northern India where a respected headman, Dharamraj Thakur, played by Anil Kapoor, is challenged by his own family members who are driven by greed and corruption.

The film opens with Thakur's conviction to uphold the law and order of the village. He is loved by the villagers and feared by those who break the law. In his household, Thakur lives with his wife and four daughters. His son, Vikram, who studies abroad, is not present in the village but is expected to join the family business after his studies.

However, when Vikram returns, he is not interested in the family's traditional business and is instead focused on his passion for modern technology. He does not want to disappoint his father, but Thakur is furious with his son's attitude and starts to alienate him.

Meanwhile, the village is exposed to the greed of two corrupt politicians who aim to manipulate the villagers for their own benefit. Things escalate when Thakur's son-in-law is murdered, and Thakur must fight against corruption and for justice to be upheld. He also has to face conflicts in his own family, as his sons are greedy and power-hungry and go against his moral principles.

The film showcases the importance of values and principals in upholding justice, and how even the strongest of families can be tested under pressure. It also touches on the themes of advancement and modernization, and the conflict that can arise between traditional and modern values.

Anil Kapoor delivers an excellent performance as Thakur, displaying a range of emotions effortlessly.
