Cayman Went is a 2009 indie film about a Hollywood producer, Josh Anders, played by Michael Lombardi, who is struggling with a personal and professional crisis. He is on the verge of bankruptcy and is dealing with his ex-wife's emotional turmoil. To make matters worse, he lost his passion for making films. Desperate for a change, Josh heads off to the Cayman Islands on a business trip to recover his enthusiasm for filmmaking. He arrives on the island with his friend and sound technician, Donald, played by Jeffrey DeMunn. Soon, they meet a local woman named Nikki who helps them settle into their hotel.

Josh quickly finds himself drawn to the laidback island lifestyle and the beautiful natural surroundings. He spends his days exploring the island, snorkeling, and scuba diving. However, his time in Cayman is not all fun and games as he runs into a former investor who is now a ruthless banker. The banker threatens to destroy Josh’s life unless he pays off all his outstanding debts.

As the pressure mounts, Josh turns to Nikki for support. She introduces him to her local community, which is grappling with its own problems. Like Josh, they too are facing environmental and economic crises. In getting to know them, Josh realizes he has a greater purpose – to help preserve their island paradise, by making a film that would tell their story.

The atmosphere in Cayman is one of serenity and tranquility. The stunning scenery, colorful reefs, and the warm locals paint a picture of an island in paradise. The film effectively captures the island's culture and traditions, which are under threat from the outside world's greed and modernity. Josh is the outsider who becomes deeply involved in the community's welfare and feels compelled to tell their story through his film.

The film also portrays the conflict between greed and environmentalism. Cayman's natural beauty and underwater life are threatened by the excessive development, overfishing, and pollution. Josh takes up the cause of the community and tries to convince the powerful bank to help preserve the island's natural wonders.

The acting is powerful and emotional, especially Michael Lombardi's portrayal of the tormented Josh who seeks redemption in his life. Jeffrey DeMunn plays the role of Josh's best friend and confidant, who brings stability to his life. Susan Misner plays a vital role as Nikki, the local woman who captures Josh's heart and introduces him to the island's culture and inhabitants.

The script is a well-paced blend of drama and comedy, with quirky characters mixed in with acerbic humor. The film's soundtrack is a standout feature, evoking the charm and atmosphere of the Caribbean islands.

Cayman Went is a moving film that shows the power of one man's commitment to preserving the natural beauty and culture of an island paradise. The film has a twist ending that leaves the audience feeling uplifted and touched. The film is a must-watch for those who love nature, the Caribbean, and gripping drama with a message.
