Change of Mind is a 1969 science fiction film that explores the concept of transferring the human mind into an artificial body. The film follows the story of an African-American couple, Harold and Julia Saunders (played by Raymond St. Jacques and Susan Oliver), who are struggling to conceive a child. In an attempt to save their marriage, the couple agrees to undergo a radical experiment that involves transferring their minds into newly created robotic bodies.

The couple is placed under the care of renowned scientist Dr. Noah Praetorius (played by Leslie Nielsen), who is leading the research on the project. Under his guidance, the couple goes through the transformation process and awakens in their new robotic forms. They soon discover that they have been given a new lease of life and have become immortal beings.

As part of the experiment, the couple must adjust to their new surroundings and learn to cope with their robotic bodies. Harold begins to enjoy his newfound strength and invincibility, but Julia struggles with the idea of losing her humanity. She becomes increasingly paranoid and delusional, believing that she is being watched and experimented on by Praetorius and his team.

The plot takes a dramatic turn when Harold is drawn into a love affair with a fellow robotic being named Angela (played by Janet MacLachlan). The relationship is seen as a betrayal by Julia, who takes drastic measures to sabotage their happiness.

As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that the scientists involved in the project have their own motivations and are not entirely honest with the subjects. Praetorius is revealed to be a megalomaniac who seeks to create an army of robots to serve his own purposes. He is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his goals, even if it means sacrificing the lives and autonomy of the subjects.

The film presents thought-provoking questions about the nature of humanity and the ethical implications of artificial intelligence. It raises concerns about the control that scientists and governments may exert over AI and questions whether creating conscious beings should be done at all.

Raymond St. Jacques and Susan Oliver deliver powerful performances as the couple struggling to cope with their transformation. Their chemistry and emotional range carry the film and make it a compelling watch. Leslie Nielsen's portrayal of Praetorius is also noteworthy, as he effectively embodies the character's ego and ambition.

Janet MacLachlan's performance as Angela is also excellent, conveying both a sense of innocence and a deep longing for companionship. Her relationship with Harold serves as a counterpoint to Julia's paranoia, highlighting the benefits and drawbacks of robotic bodies.

Overall, Change of Mind is a film ahead of its time, offering a unique perspective on the relationship between humans and AI. It is a thought-provoking film that explores complex themes and raises important questions about the future of technology.
