Watch Chow Ken

An early 20th Century Chinese revolutionary era martyr and martial artist, Chow Ken (Mandarin: Chiu Chen) was also a poet whose writings still exist today. This fictionalized biopic stars actress Kuo Shiao Chang as Chow Ken leading Chinese militia groups against the Japanese invaders at the dawn of the Sino-Japanese War. Jimmy Wang Yu portrays a fellow Chinese patriot who takes on a horde of Japanese karateka. Chow Ken was a First Film production, which was based in Taiwan. Jimmy Wang Yu, preferring the acting, directing, and script freedoms offered by First Films in Taiwan vs Golden Harvest and Shaw Brothers in Hong Kong, made a number of films with famed action directors like Yueh Fung and Ting Shan Shi, who directed Chow Ken and Wang's Furious Slaughter, among others.
