Cleaner is a 2007 psychological thriller movie directed by Renny Harlin and starring Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris, and Eva Mendes. The film follows Tom Cutler (Jackson), a former cop who now works as a crime scene cleaner. He's known for his efficiency and discretion, having cleaned up after every kind of crime imaginable. Tom is a man who lives in a quiet existence, keeping to himself and the privacy of his own home. His work as a crime scene cleaner provides him with a lot of spare time, which he uses to take care of his daughter Rose (Keke Palmer) and spy on his estranged wife (Mendes). However, things take a dark turn when Tom is called to clean up after a murder at a wealthy family's home.

As he's cleaning up, Tom discovers that the murder was not just a random act of violence, and he becomes embroiled in a dangerous game of deception and intrigue. He realizes that the murder is connected to a high-stakes political scandal involving the victim's husband, Senator Terrence Marks (Harris).

Tom becomes an un-willing detective as he tries to uncover the truth behind the murder and clear his name, with his daughter Rose being his only ally. As he learns more about the Senator's secrets, Tom realizes that his life and Rose's life are in grave danger.

Cleaner is a tightly-paced thriller that keeps you on edge throughout the whole movie. The strength of the film lies in Jackson's performance as Tom, who is a complex character with a troubled past. Jackson brings a sense of intelligence and vulnerability to his character, making him more than just a man with a mop. He's haunted by his past and his mistakes, and he's also fiercely loyal to his daughter.

Ed Harris gives a nuanced performance as the Senator Terrence Marks. Harris knows how to play morally ambiguous characters and he does that in Cleaner too. The character is both charming and calculating, and Harris delivers the right amount of menace to make him a convincing villain.

Eva Mendes plays the role of Tom's estranged wife Ann Norcut. Although Mendes has a limited screen-time, she manages to create a memorable character. Ann is a woman who's trying to move on with her life but is still affected by her failed marriage to Tom. Mendes brings a sense of emotional depth to her character that elevates her performance.

The supporting cast is equally strong, with Keke Palmer giving an impressive performance as Tom's daughter Rose. Palmer has a natural presence in front of the camera and shares great chemistry with Jackson, making their father-daughter relationship the emotional core of the movie.

Director Renny Harlin does an excellent job of creating a tense atmosphere and maintaining the film's momentum. Harlin doesn't rely on gore or violence to create tension, instead using visual storytelling to make the audience uncomfortable. The scenes of Tom cleaning up after the murders are meticulously filmed, providing insight into Tom's meticulous nature.

Cleaner has a great score by Richard Gibbs and cinematography by Scott Kevan, both of whom add to the movie's overall atmosphere. The movie's pacing is excellent, with the story unfolding at a brisk pace, never giving the audience a chance to catch their breath.

In conclusion, Cleaner is a well-crafted thriller that will keep you hooked till the end. With great performances, strong direction and a compelling story, it's definitely worth watching.
