Compliance is a movie about a manager of a restaurant who decides to harass one of her young employees, after she receives an anonymous phone call about a complaint, challenging her to do so. The caller states that they are a police officer and that the employee has stolen from one of the customers. Not taking into consideration the caller could be a prankster, Sandra, the manager, takes the employee, Becky, into the back and begins questioning and searching her, before she leaves for the day. Once she is in the back room, it becomes a twisted sexual game, left in the hands of the caller and his victims. With every call the prankster makes, each new person that answers gets conned into playing along in a sexual disgrace towards Becky. Every time a call comes in, the game gets sicker and even more disgusting, as the people of the restaurant fall into the prankster's trap. The caller is enjoying each new voice that comes on the line because the humiliation gets worse and Becky goes through an even bigger ordeal. Finally, the prankster makes one too many phone calls and gets the wrong person on the other end of the line and that person has the decency to go against the challenge. That person comes to the conclusion they have been tricked, and tries to stop the chain of events that have been occurring for far too long. The caller in fact is not a police officer, and the police are dying to solve this mystery and save Becky from this embarrassing tragedy.
