Contraband is a 2012 action-thriller film directed by Baltasar Kormakur and stars Mark Wahlberg, and Kate Beckinsale. This is a remake of the Icelandic 2009 film, Reykjavik-Rotterdam where Baltasar Kormakur starred. Chris Farraday played by Mark Wahlberg decided to quit his previous occupation of running contraband, and focus on an honest career. Everything was going well with his job and family until his brother-in-law Andy, played by Caleb Landry Jones, finds himself in trouble when he messes up a drug deal with his boss Tim Briggs, played by Giovanni Ribisi and ends up in the hospital. Andy is terrified realizing they not only warned him but will kill him eventually. After getting out of the hospital, he decides the only thing he can do is to leave the country.

Chris decides to talk to Andy's boss and tell him he will try and get the money back to him to settle Andy's debt. Reluctantly Tim agrees but tells Chris if anything goes wrong, he will target his family.

Chris starts thinking the only way he can help his brother - in - law, is to get back into running contraband to settle Andy's debt. Chris' best friend Sebastian, played by Ben Foster, helps him pull together a very experienced crew for a run to Panama and back, hoping to return with enough counterfeit cash to pacify Andy's boss.

When things start getting complicated, Andy starts to panic and goes off on his own to get some drugs thinking it will be backup if the original plan doesn't work out. Meanwhile Chris is running into more and more problems of his own and constantly has in the back of his mind that his family is on the line if he doesn't succeed.

When they arrive back on the boat they have customs waiting on them. They manage to get everything on the boat, but Chris finds out that Andy has smuggled drugs on board. They make the trip home but have more surprises waiting for them on land.
