Corvette Summer is a classic 1978 comedy adventure film starring Mark Hamill, Annie Potts, and Eugene Roche. Directed by Matthew Robbins, the movie is set in California and follows the story of a young high school student, Kenneth W. Dantley Jr., who is obsessed with cars, particularly with 'vettes (Chevrolet Corvettes). After his beloved custom-built Corvette Stingray is stolen, Kenny decides to embark on a quest to track down his prized possession.

The film opens with Kenny's auto-shop class at a high school in Los Angeles. Kenny is a brilliant mechanic who builds a sleek silver Corvette Stingray in his class, which immediately grabs the attention of everyone at the school, especially Vanessa (Annie Potts), a young woman who also develops a fascination with the car. One day, while Kenny is out driving his car around Los Angeles, it gets stolen. Kenny is devastated, and even the police can’t seem to help him find his beloved car.

But instead of giving up, Kenny decides to take matters into his own hands and embarks on a wild adventure from Los Angeles to Las Vegas in search of the stolen Corvette. Along the way, he meets a host of eccentric characters, including a small-time car thief named Wayne (Kim Milford), who claims to have information about the whereabouts of the car. With Vanessa by his side, Kenny sets off to find his dream car in the desert of Las Vegas.

The journey to Las Vegas leads Kenny and Vanessa on a series of comedic misadventures. From encounters with nefarious car thieves to crazy roadside attractions and even a stint working at a Nevada brothel, Kenny and Vanessa's quest to find the stolen Corvette takes them through many unexpected twists and turns. Along the way, they eventually find the car and discover that it has been completely stripped of all its parts.

Eventually, Kenny decides to rebuild the car from scratch, leading to some incredible customization and restoration work. He also gets the help of a shady car dealer, Mr. McGrath (Eugene Roche), who provides him with the necessary funding to restore the car.

As the movie progresses, Kenny and Vanessa eventually fall in love, and they return to Los Angeles, both of them riding in the newly restored car. The happy couple lingers in the passionate moment, apparently unmindful of anyone else as they kiss under an overpass.

Overall, Corvette Summer is a fun and entertaining movie that blends comedy, romance, and adventure with a classic visual style that harkens back to the late seventies. Mark Hamill delivers a great performance as Kenny, the car-loving high school student who goes on a wild journey to find his stolen Corvette. Annie Potts, who would go on to play the memorable Janine in Ghostbusters, is equally terrific as the girl who joins Kenny on his quest. The film is also notable for its incredible car customization and restoration work, which is sure to impress any classic car enthusiast. All in all, Corvette Summer is a must-watch for anyone who loves cars, comedy, and great adventure films.
