Creepshow is a horror anthology film released in 1982, directed by George A. Romero and written by Stephen King. The movie is made up of five different segments, each with their distinctive storylines, but united by a single narrative thread. The movie opens with a prologue setting the mood and theme of the film. A young boy named Billy (Joe King) loves comic books and is caught reading one by his strict and abusive father (Tom Atkins), who hates such entertainment. Unwilling to tolerate his father's harshness, Billy cries a lot and wishes that the man will disappear from his life. This sets the stage for the comic book horror that follows, with each of the five stories introduced by turning pages of a horror comic.

The first story, "Father's Day," is about an elderly and wealthy patriarch, Nathan Grantham (Jon Lormer), who was killed by his daughter Bedelia (Viveca Lindfors) after he killed her fiancé, a day before their wedding. Bedelia now visits her father's grave every year on Father's Day to taunt him, as he rises from the dead and seeks revenge on his daughter and her family members who killed him. The segment blends horror and comedy in a stylish and enjoyable manner, with a macabre sense of humor that dominates the proceedings.

The second story, "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill," is a comedic take on King's short story "Weeds," in which a poor, dumb farmer Jordy Verrill (Stephen King), who discovers a meteorite in his backyard, hoping to sell it for a fortune, only to end up being infected by its alien substance, which transforms him into a leafy plant-monster. The segment is a tribute to the classic horror films of the 1950s, with King giving a funny and memorable performance as Jordy.

The third story, "Something to Tide You Over," is a twisty and suspenseful tale of betrayal and revenge. It features Richard Vickers (Leslie Nielsen), an affluent millionaire who discovers his wife Becky (Gaylen Ross) is cheating on him with a younger man named Harry Wentworth (Ted Danson). Vickers kidnaps Harry and buries him in the sand on a remote beach, waiting for the tide to come in and drown him. Becky is also captured and forced to watch the horror, but she is not one to go gently into the dark.

The fourth story, "The Crate," is possibly the most terrifying of the five, focusing on Henry Northrup (Hal Holbrook), a college professor who despises his abrasive and overbearing wife, Wilma (Adrienne Barbeau). While cleaning up in the university's basement, Henry uncovers a mysterious and malevolent crate, which he believes could be the answer to his prayers of getting rid of his troublesome spouse. However, the creature inside the box is far more dangerous and threatening than Wilma.

The final story, "They're Creeping Up on You," finishes with an apocalyptic bang, starring E.G. Marshall as Upson Pratt, a ruthless and germophobic businessman who lives in a germ-free and hermetically sealed apartment in New York City. However, his antiseptic haven is soon infiltrated by swarms of cockroaches, much to his horror and disgust.

Overall, Creepshow is an entertaining and well-crafted horror anthology that takes inspiration from classic horror comics of the 1950s. The movie offers scary moments and dark humor, along with suspense and some great performances from its all-star cast. The blend of dark horror and twisted humor makes the film a standout example of the genre and a must-watch for all horror fans. The five stories range from Stephen King's macabre to George A. Romero's black-humored approach, and each segment is a mini-masterpiece on its own, making Creepshow one of the most unique and creative horror films in the history of cinema.

Creepshow is a 1982 horror movie with a runtime of 2 hours. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.8 and a MetaScore of 59.
