Crossed Over is a 2002 American-made-for-television-drama that follows the true story of Beverly Lowry (Diane Keaton), a mother whose teenage son was killed in a hit-and-run accident. She's left with an enormous void in her life, and her marriage disintegrates. Crossed Over is her journey towards healing and how her pain and anger lead her to an unexpected friendship with Karla Faye Tucker (Jennifer Jason Leigh), one of Texas's most notorious death row inmates.

The movie begins with Beverly in the present day writing a letter to Karla Faye Tucker, recounting their friendship and how she came to write the book Crossed Over: A Murder, A Memoir. The story then flashes back to the night of her son's death, where Beverly is suddenly given a new purpose in life, to see justice done for her son. She sets out on a crusade to bring the hit-and-run driver to justice, but her efforts are unfruitful, and she's left with no closure.

As Beverly struggles with the death of her son, her husband John (Maury Chaykin) becomes distant and angry. Beverly begins to rely on alcohol and drugs to numb the pain, and her marriage is on the verge of collapse. One night, while Beverly is flipping through channels, she sees an interview with Karla Faye Tucker, and she's immediately struck by her story.

Karla Faye Tucker is a convicted murderer who's been sentenced to death in Texas. She's unlike anyone Beverly has ever known, and their unlikely friendship begins when Beverly writes to her. Although John doesn't approve of Beverly's newfound friendship, she continues to visit Karla Faye on death row. As they get to know each other better, Beverly realizes that their friendship has helped her to heal from the pain of her son's death.

Throughout the movie, we see Beverly's emotional journey as she tries to make sense of her son's death and find peace. Diane Keaton delivers a moving and emotional performance as a mother who's struggling to come to terms with the loss of her child. Her character is determined and strong-willed, but she's also vulnerable and trying to find her way in a world that's been turned upside down.

Maury Chaykin is excellent as Beverly's husband John. He's dealing with his own pain and anger, and we see his frustration as Beverly becomes more and more involved with Karla Faye Tucker. Nick Roth, who plays Beverly's son in flashbacks, is also excellent, and his death is a driving force behind Beverly's search for justice and her eventual friendship with Karla Faye Tucker.

Jennifer Jason Leigh delivers a heartbreaking performance as Karla Faye Tucker, a woman who's been dealt a rough hand in life. She's facing the death penalty for her crimes, and her life has been marked by tragedy and loss. Despite this, Karla Faye is resilient, and her friendship with Beverly is a testament to the power of human connection.

Overall, Crossed Over is a moving and emotional drama about the power of friendship and healing. It's a story about two women who've faced unimaginable loss and pain, and how their unlikely friendship helped them to find hope and peace. The performances by the cast are outstanding, and the movie is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

Crossed Over is a 2002 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.4.
