D' Anothers is a Filipino horror-comedy movie from 2005, directed by Joyce Bernal and starring Vhong Navarro, Toni Gonzaga, and Pokwang. The film revolves around the story of a deceased family who returns from the afterlife to haunt their living relatives in some hilarious and scary ways. The movie is entertainingly filled with supernatural and haunting elements, as well as punchlines and jokes that make it an equally thrilling and enjoyable experience for the viewers. The film follows the exploits of a young guy named Dodi who starts seeing ghosts after his grandfather dies. It's believed that her grandfather's spirit had transferred to Dodi, allowing him to sense paranormal activity.

D' Anothers takes place in the fictional town of Balatkat and tells the story of Dodie (Vhong Navarro), who is a hapless medical student. He has inherited the gift of seeing ghosts from his grandfather, who was also a medium, and struggles to fit in amidst the strange ability. Dodi's grandfather asks him to build a resort with the assistance of an experienced medium named Elsa (Pokwang).

However, a family of ghosts, the Ojeda, interferes with their plans. The Ojeda family, headed by the father Herman (John Lapus), consists of Mama Poldet (Tuesdays Vargas), a two-headed ghost, and their son Walter (Jason Francisco), whose limbs come apart.

As ghosts of the dearly departed are apt to do, the Ojeda family has not passed over peacefully. They refuse to allow Elsa and Dodie to build their planned resort on the land they haunt. The living and the dead must find a way to coexist and avoid disturbing one another.

Along with his girlfriend (Toni Gonzaga) and Elsa, Dodie tries to oust the spirits. They quickly realize that the ghosts are persistent foes, and are unwilling to give up their claim to the land. In a effort to get rid of them, they employ the help of a group of ghost hunters, but none of the more well-known paranormal experts seem to be able to offer them any aid.

D' Anothers is a unique and enjoyable film that blends humor and horror in equal measure. The cast performance of this movie is unerring, with Vhong Navarro's comic timing being spot-on, Toni Gonzaga playing the typical love interest character delightfully, and the exaggerated acting of Jason Francisco, John Lapus, and Tuesday Vargas stealing the show. Elsa (Pokwang) stands as a breath of fresh air in the film with her unconventional and humorous take on her role.

The computer graphics in D' Anothers isn't state-of-the-art, but it provides a glimpse of a time when technology wasn't as advanced as it is today. The ghostly apparitions, however, are stunningly well-rendered, with a degree of creepiness that adds to the movie's overall atmosphere.

Overall, the sound design, special effects, and peculiar storyline are a real pleasure to watch. The cinematography is clean and straightforward, with lighting that adds to the film's glamorous ambience. The movie's pace is also adequately balanced, ensuring that the audience never gets too bored.

In conclusion, D' Anothers isn't a horror film in the traditional sense, but rather a comedy-horror mixture that is sure to satisfy audiences. The movie has a pleasant balance of scares and laughs, daring to engage with its viewers in new and distinct ways. It is an enjoyable, light-hearted movie that you can watch with the whole family.
