Dark Harvest is a horror movie from 2004 directed by Paul Moore. The film takes place in a small rural town in Illinois where a strange and mysterious creature has been terrorizing the residents for years. A group of friends, including Tommy (Don Digiulio), his girlfriend Shelby (Jeanie Cheek), and their friends Nicole (Jennifer Leigh) and Brian (B.W. York), decide to investigate the creature on Halloween night.

As the group delves deeper into the legend of the creature, they discover that the local townspeople have been carrying out a sinister tradition on Halloween night for decades. Every year, they make a sacrifice to the creature in exchange for a bountiful harvest. The group is horrified when they learn that they are the intended sacrifices for this year's harvest.

Throughout the movie, the group is stalked by the creature, which is never fully revealed until the end of the film. The suspense and horror build up as the group tries to figure out how to escape and save themselves from becoming part of the gruesome ritual.

The film's atmosphere is eerie and ominous, with scenes taking place in abandoned barns, cornfields, and old cemeteries. The movie relies heavily on jump scares and intense chase scenes to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. It is the typical horror movie recipe of young adults seeking adventure end up in a dangerous situation that they can not escape.

Dark Harvest tackles themes of rural folklore, small-town secrets, and the potential for evil lurking within seemingly innocuous traditions. The audience is left contemplating the moral implications of these traditions, questioning if the townsfolk are justified in their actions, or if they are merely blind followers of a horrific tradition.

The acting in Dark Harvest is decent, with most of the cast delivering believable performances. Don Digiulio's portrayal of Tommy is a highlight, as he navigates the terror and trauma of being hunted by an unknown creature with impressive tenacity. Jeanie Cheek's performance as Shelby was also noteworthy, showcasing a range of emotions as she balances fear, confusion, and courage throughout the movie.

Overall, Dark Harvest is a solid horror movie that will satisfy fans of the genre. It has all the classic elements of horror movies, with an interesting twist on a familiar trope. Despite its lower budget, Dark Harvest manages to deliver on the suspense and terror that audiences crave.
