Den Brother is a 2010 made-for-television movie that revolves around the life of a high school hockey star, Alex Pearson (Hutch Dano). Alex discovers that his twin sister, Emily (Genevieve Hannelius), is obsessed with her school's Bumble Bee Troop's cookie-selling competition. To help his sister achieve her goals, Alex volunteers to be the troop's interim den mother.

Alex's hockey team is on hold due to his suspension, so he has a lot of free time. Initially, he is not fond of the idea of being a den mother, but when he discovers that the women who run the trophy store also own the hockey rink, he changes his mind. He believes that by being a den mother, he could get the suspension lifted and get back on the ice.

When Alex starts leading the Bumble Bee Troop, things don't go as smoothly as he had hoped. He tries to make everything light-hearted, but the girls take the competition very seriously. The den mother role becomes more challenging when he realizes that his tough-girl-attitude conflicts with being a coach. The Den Mother soon learns how much responsibility being a leader holds.

Emily is not enthusiastic about Alex taking over her troop, but as the competition rapidly approaches, the girls need to sell more cookies if they want to win. Alex comes up with unique ideas to help sell the cookies and gain more customers, but his ideas lead to unexpected situations.

Things take a turn when Alex is exposed on television, and his sister reveals his identity as the den mother. His friends and fellow hockey players tease him for taking a stereotypical girl's job, and he is ashamed.

The Den Mother tries to quit when he is exposed, but the girls refuse to let him go. As the competition comes closer, the girls realize that they cannot win without him, and they persuade him to continue leading the team.

As events unfold, Alex slowly starts to develop a bond with the girls, and he learns life lessons about being responsible, prioritization, teamwork and accepting others for who they are. The cookie competition teaches him values that he never knew existed as he watches the girls grow and learn about themselves.

As the end of the film approaches, Alex helps the girls compete in the cookie competition and leads them to victory. However, it's not about the victory for both Alex and the girls, but it's about the experience and the journey that they all went through.

The movie uses the familiar plot of a sports team fighting to win against all odds and accompanies it with the natural charm of a poorly equipped den mother leading a troop to victory.
