Devil Fetus is a horror film from Hong Kong released in 1983. The movie is directed by Lau Hung Chuen and stars Eddie Chan, Yung-Chang Chin, and Pak-Kwong Ho. The story of the film revolves around a woman named Lily (Liu Sue Yin) who is married to a wealthy businessman. Soon, she becomes pregnant but the pregnancy has some complications. She decides to undergo an abortion against her husband's wishes. However, the aborted fetus is not dead and becomes a devil fetus.

The devil fetus takes revenge on Lily and her family. It causes supernatural phenomena like objects moving by themselves, strange noises and visions of old images. These events start taking place on the night of the babies ‘abortion’. The family enlists the help of a Taoist priest (Eddie Chan) who is an expert in exorcisms.

He explains the legend of the 'Devil’s Child' – a fetus that did not survive long enough to be born, wandering the earth in a devil-like form. The priest attempts to destroy the creature by drowning it in a bucket of water, burning it, and even exorcising it. His attempts are futile, and he comes to the conclusion that the devil fetus is far more powerful than he originally thought.

In addition to supernatural events and battles with the devil fetus, the film also features unrelated scenes of gore and violence. These include a disturbing scene of a magician cutting off a woman's arm in a magic trick and another where a man's face is ripped off by a villain.

The film's special effects are not impressive. The devil fetus is portrayed with a simplistic, low-tech puppet. It doesn’t look or feel authentic, nor does it add to the horror of the film. The film’s low budget is evident in a few other scenes as well.

Despite its drawbacks, the film does have a few redeeming qualities. The acting of the cast is quite good, in particular, Eddie Chan. He plays the Taoist master with conviction, and his belief in the supernatural is well depicted. The other actors also deliver memorable performances, making the characters feel believable.

The film's score manages to create a creepy atmosphere, enhancing the horror effect of the scenes. The music is well-suited for the movie's theme, providing a tense atmosphere and subliminal scares that keeps the audience engaged.

Overall, Devil Fetus is not a film for everyone. It has its moments, but it is not highly regarded by most moviegoers or critics. If you enjoy horror movies with lots of supernatural elements, you might find this film entertaining. However, if you’re looking for actual scares or realistic horror elements, then this film may not be up to par.
