World War II: The two soldiers Richard and Karl form a work detail in a satellite camp in Russian captivity. The memory of his wife Anna is the one thing that keeps Richard alive.
Karl identifies with Richard’s love for Anna and when he escapes from the camp, he searches for her. Anna is torn between sympathy for the stranger and loyalty to her husband, but her initial doubt about Karl, turns into deep affection.
The young love of Anna and Karl is put to the test when Richard returns home from captivity and reclaims his wife.
