Dolemite is the name of a comedy film. Dolemite is also the name of the main character in the movie. Rudy Ray Moore wrote the movie after working for years as a stand up comedian. Dolemite is his alter ego for his comedy act. He heard a homeless man make a toast to an urban hero by the name of Dolemite. Dolemite is a pimp who is set up for a crime he did not do. A man named Willie Greene and the police planted drugs, stolen merchandise, and guns in his car. Dolemite is sentenced to twenty years in jail. His friend Queen B along with the warden want to get him out of jail. They also want to prove that Willie Greene was part of the setup. Dolemite wants the help but is still nervous to trust others. He has a lot of people on the streets that still have his back. All of the prostitute who work for him are experts in Karate and can handle things if there was trouble. Eventually Dolemite is able to get a pardon and is released from jail. While he is trying to get his life back he keeps running into two detectives that are looking for any reason to send him back to jail.
Queen B runs a brothal for Dolemite. Dolemite is part owner of the establishment. Queen B is special to Dolemite. He treats her as a partner and never speaks to her as he does the working girls. Willie Greene does not like what Dolemite does and is jealous of him doing so well. While Dolemite is in jail he takes over one of his clubs. Where there is trouble Willie can turn to the mayor. The mayor has the power to call in favors for him. In return Willie gets many African Americans to vote for the mayor in an upcoming election.
