A story from the newspaper in the 1950s, was in inspiration for this film. The film shows a year in the life of a young girl, Mouche. Mouche was told that she was too skinny to be a performer at the famous Moulin Rouge. Mouche is devistated after she is cast out. She attempts suicide, but ends up being saved by a group of puppets travelling from town to town performing street puppet shows. Mouche decides to join these puppets on their journey and together they become attraction. They end up earning more money than they previously made. The puppets become Mouche’s beloved friends and even family. However behind them lurks a cruel and abusive man who is desperately in love with Mouche. "It would have all been so perfect if not for the puppeteer." Mouche must choose to stay for her love of the puppets, or leave to escape the wrath of their puppeteer.
