Don't Be Afraid of the Dark is an American horror film that centers around a 19th-century mansion in Rhode Island. The haunted mansion, Blackwood Manor has quite the history of violence and many secrets locked beneath the floorboards. The previous owner, who was a painter, mysteriously disappeared and a new family is moving in. A reluctant 8-year-old Sally has been sent to live with her father Alex and his new girlfriend, Kim in Providence, Rhode Island. Soon after moving into their new home, Sally stumbles onto an undiscovered basement. She hears voices coming from a furnace that has been locked shut. Curious, the young girl unbolts the furnace she unwillingly unleashes monsters that wish to rebuild their undead Army.
With the help of a handyman that knows the true secrets of the house, Sally must convince her father of the truth of the creatures she saw. Time is running out in this eerie thriller as Sally attempts to enlist her father and his girlfriend into a battle against the monsters before it is too late.
