In the movie Double Dragon from 1994, Los Angeles in the post-apocalyptic future is a city that is divided into two parts. On one side lies the wealthy, clean and prosperous area of Beverly Hills while on the other resides a crime-ridden slum. It is here where two brothers, Jimmy and Billy Lee, live with their adoptive father Satori, a wise old man who teaches them martial arts skills.

The Lee brothers have half of a powerful magical medallion that can grant immense powers to the person who possesses it. The other half is in the hands of the evil businessman Koga Shuko (Robert Patrick) who wants to unite the two medallion halves to gain ultimate power and control over the city. Shuko is ruthless, unscrupulous, and runs a powerful gang that rules over the slums of Los Angeles.

As the brothers are out in town one day, Shuko and his henchmen confront them in their quest to obtain the other half of the medallion. In the ensuing scuffle, Satori is killed and the half of the medallion is stolen. The brothers then team up with a feisty vigilante, Marian Delario (Alyssa Milano), to retrieve the stolen half of the medallion and stop Shuko from achieving his evil intentions.

Jimmy and Billy's journey takes them through the grimy streets of the city as they battle their way through Shuko's thugs and henchmen. Along the way, they discover an underground city, which serves as a place of refuge for those who are struggling to survive in the slums. The city is ruled by a group of bike-riding rebels led by a charismatic fighter, named 'Bo' Abobo (Marc Dacascos).

As they negotiate their way through the neon-lit underground biker hangouts, the brothers must do battle with a host of evil characters including the shape shifting female assassin, Linda Lash (Kristina Wagner) and the oversized mutant, Abobo.

The movie has a great amount of style, imbued with neon-lit, futuristic backgrounds that provide an immediate and urgent sense of the post-apocalyptic setting. The fight scenes are impressive and are choreographed with precision and flair, allowing the audience to see the skills of the actors at their best in terms of martial arts. There is a great deal of hand to hand combat, but also a number of weapons such as nunchucks, staffs, knives, and more.

The central characters of Jimmy and Billy are easily empathetic and it is immediately apparent why audiences should get behind them as they try to stop an evil dictator from taking control over the city. In fact, the casting is really well done and viewers will find themselves rooting for the underdogs throughout this thrilling adventure.

It is clear that the filmmakers wanted to make a movie that was aimed at satisfying audiences who are looking for thrills and excitement, and Double Dragon succeeds in that respect. With its combination of fast-paced action scenes, impressive martial arts, and futuristic elements, it's an enjoyable movie that continues to entertain audiences today.

In conclusion, Double Dragon is a fun and entertaining movie that combines post-apocalyptic themes with martial arts action. It's a movie that will keep the audience engaged throughout and delivers plenty of thrills and excitement. Some of the humor and style may feel dated today, but for fans of action movies and science fiction, Double Dragon is sure to be a worthwhile watch.
