Eros is an anthology film comprised of three short stories, all exploring different aspects of love and desire in different time periods and cultural contexts. The first story is titled "The Hand" and is directed by Wong Kar-wai. Set in 1960s Hong Kong, the story follows a young tailor's apprentice, Zhang (Chang Chen), who becomes infatuated with a high-class courtesan, Miss Hua (Gong Li). One day, he is tasked with measuring her for a new dress and the two begin an intimate encounter that is interrupted by the arrival of Miss Hua's client. Despite the setback, the experience ignites a passion in Zhang that he cannot shake, leading him to become obsessed with her.

The second story is titled "Equilibrium" and is directed by Steven Soderbergh. Set in modern-day New York City, the story follows a psychiatrist, Dr. Pearl (Alan Arkin), who is visited by a patient, Nick Penrose (Robert Downey Jr.), who is struggling with a sexual dysfunction. As their therapy sessions progress, Dr. Pearl becomes increasingly fascinated with his patient's erotic fantasies and the two begin a disturbingly close relationship that threatens to upend their professional boundaries.

The third story is titled "The Dangerous Thread of Things" and is directed by Michelangelo Antonioni. Set in the Tuscan countryside of Italy, the story follows a couple, Christopher (Christopher Buchholz) and Cloe (Regina Nemni), as they navigate their crumbling marriage. Christopher is seduced by a young woman, Linda (Luisa Ranieri), and the two engage in a passionate affair that leads to dangerous complications as Cloe becomes increasingly aware of her husband's infidelity.

Each story in Eros is visually stunning and thematically complex, exploring the intersection of love, desire, and power in different ways. The film features top-notch performances from its ensemble cast, particularly Arkin, Downey Jr., and Li, who deliver nuanced and captivating performances that bring their respective stories to life. The film is a must-see for fans of art-house cinema and those interested in exploring the darker sides of human relationships.

Eros is a 2005 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 44 minutes.
