Fame is a film that follows the lives of different boys and girls who strive extremely hard to make it into the New York City High School for the Performing Arts. The beginning of the film simply showcases how they are all ready to audition for their specific department. Every performer from the singers, to the dancers, and to the actors; they all audition. This part is when you get introduced to all kinds of people in the film.
The story then continues on showcasing how the main characters have problems with how they live at school, especially since it is only their Freshman year. This confuses them completely since some students do not know everything about dancing, singing, and acting. The teachers are shown to be extremely strict, so each of the students have problems on how they deal with how strict each of the teachers really are.
They end up going to their Sophomore year with higher hopes and less pain. They end up experiencing different problems since they are all expected to even better than they originally did the year before. Love is also experienced among two of the characters Marco and Jenny. The Sophomore life ends with the both of them kissing.
Their Junior year is quite different because they all experience different performing auditions in front of their teachers. Some girls lose parts because other girls end up outshining them in their auditions. The guys even have problems with their performances and auditions as well. Jenny even gets the chance to meet a producer who says that he can make her a star, but after he tries to pull a move on her, she refuses and decides that a career achieved like that isn't worth it.
In their Senior year and graduation, they all succeed and perform a great song titled Hold Your Dream. The dancers and singers are all able to perform together and sing an inspirational song with Denise as the lead.
