"Fast, Cheap and Out of Control" (1997) is a documentary that profiles four men with unusual careers. Dave Hoover is a lion tamer; George Mendonça makes topiaries; Ray Mendez is a biologist who studies naked mole-rats, and Rodney Brooks is a scientist who has created bug-like robots. The film's title is a play on the engineers' adage that if one tried to make something that was fast, cheap, and reliable, they were only going to be able to achieve two of those objectives. Brooks had written a paper about robot space probes proposing a solution to that peoblem: Make a bunch of small and relatively cheap probes rather than a large expensive one. If one malfunctioned, the rest could continue with their tasks.

Fast, Cheap and Out of Control is a 1997 documentary with a runtime of 1 hour and 20 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.1.
